The NGO holds regular seminars introducing new ideas, it has encouraged snail and grass cutter farming and sourced fertilizer, chemicals, seeds and particularly “improved” cassava. A venture to expand cassava production on state government land failed when a land dispute occurred between the State and the youths of the village – sad! As ECOFWE was working with women from that village, their Mothers and Sisters.
Even more sad when you notice that two years later the land is still lying fallow unused. Thanks to a donation from a young man to his community, ECOFWE has supplied Isiugwu Rice farmers with a Rice Parboiling Machine developed by DFID /Propcom in the North.
